J.S. Snow began her literary obsession at the tender age of eleven with the first voluntarily read book Dear God It’s Me Margaret by Judy Blume. Only a few years later her fascination with fictional offerings really took root as she stepped into the mind of one of her hero’s Stephen King through his work Christine.
Now seriously considering a twelve step program for her e-Reader addiction, she feeds her fascination for make believe with new literary offerings via said electronic reading device, has a passion for dark chocolate, sweet tea and Heavy Metal music. She is the proud mother of a downright spectacular daughter (who was head banging in the belly) and lives with the belief that the mind where the imagination lives is a far more entertaining place than TV or movies ever will be.
J.S. Snow currently resides in Indiana and has been in the administrative office field for thirty years.
Never in a million years did John Lucas, the world famous bassist for the greatest metal band in the world, Hells Redemption ever think he’d be this successful in his life. Growing up in a hippie commune outside of a one stop light town in New Mexico, he once believed his chances of venturing outside of it, let alone playing music, were slim to none.
Now he’s a part of a Heavy-Metal empire, married to a future legendary guitarist and laying the ground work for a life after the cheers from the crowd fade away.
Starting your own music label isn’t going to be without it’s headaches, but the feeling as if nothing can seem to go right can wear you down after a while. Outside of his wife’s project with her own band who is taking the rock world by storm, he needs to prove he can catapult a once unknown indie group all on his own, without riding the coattails of the successful group he’s a part of or married to.
White Dove Massacre, C.S. Records newest act may just do that. The four young men from Philadelphia desire to
be the next greatest band to come out of the City of Brotherly Love since Breaking Benjamin. They were thrilled to not only be signed by a record label, but one belonging to their idol, John Lucas. However, is their admiration for the man clouding their judgement to do what’s best for their future? Up to this point, his decisions haven’t been too beneficial.
Can John prove his label is right place for them and that he can propel them up the ladder of success on the music charts? Only time will tell, and this is of course banking on the fact, one more thing will not go wrong.
So far, things aren’t looking to promising as his band who is headling tonight’s show may be out of commission due to their lead guitarist being hospitalized.
This is John’s journey and the story of how he handles the stress and pressure of everyone’s feeling of wonder, pleasure and approval of him; in other words, how he handles their…ADMIRATION
This work can be read as a standalone, however for the full experience, the author recommends reading the first two books in the series, Redemption and Resurrection (Plug, plug, plug). Always wanting to keep her readers on their toes, fans of the Metal Prodigy Series will find some delightful surprises within this story, a few answers to lingering questions they’ve had and a jaw dropping chapter that even she can’t believe. That major ditty will be addressed in Book Three – Reconciliation due to hit e-readers everywhere, Spring of 2015 (Plug, plug, plug).
How does a child musical prodigy who was left for dead by the mafia at the age of three in a cardboard box discarded next to a blue dumpster in a South Philadelphia neighborhood alley wind up becoming the lead guitarist for one of the world’s most successful Heavy Metal Bands… Hells Redemption?
The beginning of Alex’s young life was tragic and should have been the end, but a Nun and a Priest who ended up rescuing her then later raising her determined that surely a predetermined destiny wasn’t to be for Alex.
Despite her conservative and secluded upbringing, Alex wants to prove herself to be anything but a foregone conclusion, especially when she strives to not only succeed, but dominate the music genre that she loves more than anything with her natural God given talent.
With dreams of becoming nothing but one of Heavy Metal’s Music’s most legendary guitarist’s of all time, and at the same time proving that a woman can indeed melt faces off just as well as any man, Alex is determined and focused to let nothing stand in her way, not even her past.
Can Alex achieve her dream while keeping her anonymous childhood celebrity status a tightly guarded secret? Can Alex guard the physical and mental scars she bares from her past, even if that means never physically acting on love? Can Alex really achieve all that she wants while still maintaining her integrity and the values she was raised with?
We can choose to allow our pasts dictate who we are or who society decides we are destined to be, or we can embrace that we truly are only defined in this life by the choices we make now.
These are Alex’s choices, this is Alex’s story and in turn become’s Alex’s…REDEMPTION
The child musical prodigy who grew up turning down an offered position with the New York Philharmonic Orchestra to pursue her dream of being the greatest Heavy-Metal guitarist in music history is now well on her way to turning that dream into a reality.
The five gorgeous hunks comprising of the greatest modern-day Heavy-Metal band Hells Redemption has embraced this blue eyed, brown-haired beauty as one of their own and continue to day in and day out marvel at her astounding talent on strings.
While the bonds of friendship are strong, they can still be prone to breaking. A contract designed to protect them all from any irreparable harm to the band or to their careers is now setting out to become a cause for deep-rooted resentment for Alex.
Alex is dealing the best she can with her unwanted childhood celebrity past being exposed and the decisions she is now being forced into making along with coming to terms with the inevitable death of the monster who made her an unwelcome childhood celebrity.
Now accepting her scars and therefore, embracing love in her life with a man, Alex has a new set of choices to make for her life and her professional one. Can the two work synchronously together, or do the two have to be as mutually exclusive as her own personality is with A.G.’s?
Our past’s can either dictate who we are today, or help shape who we desire to be.
Alex’s choices continue. Alex’s story continues. Alex begins to take her individual destiny in her own hands as she deals with all of these new choices. Her ultimate challenge, however, is still ahead of her.
Alex’s story continues to be told and in it, Alex finds her own…RESURRECTION
Garrett and Mariah Latimer enjoy a good Cabernet Sauvignon. Besides having a discerning palate, it’s not the only thing Garrett has a particular taste for. Mariah’s too are just as refined and individual and only one man, her beloved husband can curb her craving.
Wanting to please each other in every way, there are times when it’s difficult, for being subservient to one another can be challenging and tests the limits of what one is truly willing to do to make the other happy.
In the end, they both prove, a good wine isn’t the only thing that ages well over time.
1. Could you tell us a bit about your most recent release and why it is a must-read?
Admiration, the final novella in the Metal Prodigy Series, released 8/23/16 and the second to last book in the series. It serves as John’s story and is told from his POV in my narrative format. I have elected he not have a book in the Hells Redemption Series coming out in 2018, so this was the perfect place to put him. Why is this a must read? Well…I wrote it!
2. What is your favorite part of this book?
Whenever I have my main character, Alex giving someone a “what for”, it just pleases me. I love her strength, conviction and her heart. A close second is the interaction between the soundboard guy and a young guitarist and how she handles him. It’s priceless.
3. In addition to being a writer, do you have a day job? If so, what is it?
I’m a left brained accountant for a large HVAC company.
4. What does your typical day look like?
Rather predictable and boring really. Wake up at 4 a.m., write, shower, dress for work, commute to work, work, write in my car at lunchtime, commute right on back home, dinner, write some more, bed by 8 p.m.
I’m sure it’s that discipline that has created so many novels.
5. What do you love most about the writing process?
Pushing the envelope in a way I can’t in real life.
6. Of all the characters you have created, which is your favorite and why?
Oh, the drummer in my fictional band Hells Redemption, Hiatt Stevenson. The man has no filter, is forever curious and has the biggest heart. He just makes me smile.
7. Are your characters based off real people or did they all come entirely from your imagination?
Completely out of my imagination and each possess a part of my own personality.
8. What is the biggest surprise you experienced after becoming a writer?
That people were shocked how long my first book is. I’ve read books of this length myself, and thought they were all this long. Apparently I’m a freak.
9. Since being a writer, what has been the best compliment?
I’ll quote one of my favorite reviews so far, it’s from Temptation, the fourth novel in the series “J.S. SNOW you’re the cheese on my crackers lady, absolutely adore you lol…this series is Epic!!”
That’s great! What a memorable line.
10. If you could ask one question from any one person, living or dead, what would it be and from whom?
Jesus Christ, and my question would simply be “Lord, seriously, why does the platypus look like that?”
11. What is the toughest criticism given to you as an author?
I made the mistake early on in my writing career, of joining an anthology. It wasn’t really criticism really, but just general berating by a New York Times Best Selling author! She was on my team due to we all write in third person and we had to read each other’s work. She went on and on in her critiques of my story over one thing, two spaces after sentences. I kept reading one complaint after another and was just shocked how appalled she was over this. Then, she refused to give a review of the work because of this until I fixed it, she wouldn’t! My immediate counter to this, being I had been an administrative assistant for over twenty-seven years at this point was simple, any type test you take or typing class you take for that matter requires it. You are cheating on the wpm count. It is TWO SPACES after a sentence. I consulted with my editor on this, and he said both styles are correct. However, I’d like to see this chic take a typing test at Kelly Services and see how she does on her score. Let’s just say, I’d smoke her!
I see that as an insecure person who felt threatened by you. If that’s all she could find and then held on to it like a dog with a bone…jealousy.
12. If you were riding in an elevator with a new writer, what wisdom would you bestow upon him/her before you reached the top floor?
13. What is the most amusing thing that has ever happened to you?
One Sunday I was in Publix grocery store in the produce section, and while picking out some apples, I was chewing on something in my head, which was bugging the snot out of me. I had a run in with a down right vicious editor for my short story, Claiming. Oh, and before I go on, I’ll amend question twelve above by saying “Oh, and interview your editor before paying them.” Okay, so back to the pending meltdown in the place which touts “Where Shopping is a Pleasure”. I was really beating myself for trying out this college kid who is really too full of herself and I didn’t think my editor, whom I have now, would even bother with this work considering my budget was a whopping twenty-five bucks. Hey, he charges what he does because he’s the best, but for this, money was tight. It then hit me, I needed a proofer, NOT an editor. Three other authors, including my roommate already looked it over and I just needed someone to review with a fine tooth comb so I could submit it for the anthology and not get kicked out of it.
Now, remember, this is a Sunday, and I happen to live in the deep south. Oh yes, you can just imagine what comes next. When the realization hit me what I needed to do, instead of just allowing the sense of euphoria to take over and leave well enough alone, I instead shout “Holy shitballs! I need a fucking proofreader, not an editor!” Oh yes, open foul mouth, insert foot. All activity ceases around me, and all the shoppers who happened to have been folks who just got out of church, gape at me in complete astonishment. This elderly black woman scowls at me and says “Child, you need the Lord!” I reply “Yes ma’am, sorry.” I took my bag of apples, my dirty mouth and hauled butt to the ten items or less register as fast as my size eleven feet could take me.
OMGoodness you made me laugh out loud and I have no doubt you left those religious folk praying for your soul. Hahaha
14. What websites or resources have been helpful to you, as a writer?
Anything that can save an indie author time with promotion is aces in my book. Big fan of Pagemodo, Hootsuite and Canva. All valuable tools in creation of teasers and scheduling them to be put out to the masses.
15. Do you have any hidden or uncommon talents?
My writing may be a hot mess, as my editor will no doubt attest to, but I can make an algorithm my bitch. Math is my strong suit. While I was getting C’s in English class, I was a top scorer in trigonometry. Stick that in your grammar pipes and smoke it.
I knew we were soul sisters. Me too!
16. What would the main character in your most recent book have to say about you?
“Thanks for the four orgasms in the last chapter, nice touch.”
17. What is something memorable you heard from a reader/fan?
Oh, back to the reviews, again, from Temptation: “For those of you checking out these reviews, please make sure you read this entire series before even thinking about starting this book. It’s summer, send the kids to camp-buy your husband 36 rounds of golf preferably out of state, send the dog to a relative, disconnect all electronics and enter this world JS Snow created. They are not your typical rock star books; they are so much more.”
18. If money were no object, where would you live and why?
In a high rise with a three sixty view of Seattle. Why? It’s home.
19. Currently, how many ideas for different books do you have going/jotted down?
Last count, 36 titles are in my head. I’ll be writing for a while.
And that makes all of us very happy!
20. Where can we find you online?
