Interview

1. Could you tell us a bit about your most recent release and why it is a must-read?

My recent release, The Price We Pay is very different from anything I’ve read. It follows 13 characters where all their lives and stories are connected. I’m getting amazing reviews back and I can’t wait for more people to read it.

2. What is your favorite part of this book?

The first chapter is my favorite. Marvey is a hoot!

3. In addition to being a writer, do you have a day job? If so, what is it?

I have 5 part time jobs, one of them is being an author. I work in the art department at the college, I’m a PCA, photography, designer and make book covers.

Wow! Busy lady!

I work or attend classes while my son is also at school or daycare. Our day ends around 4:30 pm and then it’s the two of us the rest of the night.

Oh, I see, you have 5 part-time and one full-time job.

5. What do you love most about the writing process?

My characters, their names and getting to write their story. I don’t plan or outline. My characters tell me their story and I do the best to get it right.

6. Of all the characters you have created, which is your favorite and why?

Fall is my favorite, from The Four Seasons Series and then, Marvey, from The Price We Pay.

7. Are your characters based off real people or did they all come entirely from your imagination?

There is something real in every book I write. Every character has a little of me in them and I think that really helps be get to know my characters because I toss in a little bit of me along the way.

8. What is the biggest surprise you experienced after becoming a writer?

The market. Trying to get my books in front of readers. I remember offering my very first book for free, and no one entered the giveaway. I didn’t know what I was doing, and was confused why people didn’t want a free book. Lol.

My editor and several followers who have read every book, can see the growth in my writing and think I’m getting stronger with each book.

Sometimes it’s hard to get feedback from my writing. Some people don’t get my writing style and that’s okay, I don’t tend to follow the normal when it comes to writing. I write what I want to write. Lol.

12. If you were riding in an elevator with a new writer, what wisdom would you bestow upon him/her before you reached the top floor?

Get a marketing plan together. Don’t just release a book, and not have anything planned. Find some bloggers that have time to read and review your book prior to release. Get to know some authors if you can also.

I don’t know, my life if full of amusing things, and it’s like something weird happens every day.
